Asian Camel Racing Federation Establishes in Abu Dhabi, UAE

Camel is one of the important livestock and a great player in the food security, livelihood insurance, and the sports’ world. The camel is the inseparable part of the heritage and cultures of the desert ecosystemS, especially the Arabian peninsula.

The value of camel as a sports’ animal, especially racing is well recognized and understood. The camel racing is held in different parts of the world with their local rules and norms. On the other hand, there are very specialized and established rules and regulations for camel racing in the Arabian Peninsula.

United Arab Emirates has always played a leading role in the formalization of the modern camel racing. There are many regular camel racing events in different periods of the year, which attracts many more tourist to see this heart touching game of camel racing. I must appreciate that the UAE is also the world’s top leading camel milk (CaM) producing country.

Keeping the pace of the great role in the camel’s world, UAE made it possible to establish the first founding meeting of the Asian Camel Racing Associations. The foundation meeting was held in Alwathba, Abu Dhabi, 27-29 June 2019.

The first day

The statutes of the Asian Camel Racing Federation (ACRF)’s proposed draft was discussed and finalized to be presented in the general assembly for approval.

The second day

The general assembly of the ACRF was held and the organizing body was announced. The body will be formally announced by the authority of the ACRF.

I hope ACRF will bring successes in the camel world of the region. The regional camel associations will be supported to be strengthen at local level and organize camel racing under the statutes and regulations of the ACRF.
