The Mother Died and the Calf Decided to Stay with the Camels
This little one decided to stay with camels after the mother died. She is quite happy with the camels. You will see the pictures at the end of the write-up. The location of the event is Northern Kenya. Picture gifted by Piers Simpkin.
Do they speak the same language?
I think yes, they understand each other. They are fully understanding the language and the camels are so kind to little giraffes. Beautiful. There is so much similarity between camels and giraffes. That’s why giraffes are scientifically called Camelopardalis, camel in leopard guise, I guess.

The bad news is giraffe mortality goes up if there are many
camels around. No one is REALLY sure why.
I suspect it’s because
giraffe and camels eat many of the same foods and because they likely suffer from at least some of the same diseases and parasites.
Camels who are well cared for will have veterinary treatment, because they are a valuable domestic animal.
Giraffes are wild animals and don’t receive this care unless they are in captivity.
I would like to see research on this because it would help both species live better lives.
